New exhibit explores American identity through painter’s portraits

Throughout the Hastings Village Hall Gallery are paintings of American figures, from Abe Lincoln to Angela Davis, with the embroidery of the country’s flag visible beneath the paint.

Organized through the Hastings Art Commission, “Icons Reconstructed and Repainted” is a collection of 27 pieces by artist Edward Bear Miller of Tarrytown. The paintings will be on view until April 12.
