Efforts net $26K for beloved custodian

The unofficial mayor of Ardsley Middle School, 63-year-old Eduardo Cruz, high-fived students covered in colored powder on the afternoon of Friday, June 7. 

The color run was a fundraiser for Cruz, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2023, and who has worked as a custodian at the school for 27 years. 

Students paid $30 to participate in the color run, and received t-shirts and sunglasses in return. In addition, there was a GoFundMe collection for Cruz. In total, the fundraising efforts netted more than $26,000.
