
Over the course of academic years of 2017-18 through 2021-22, the Ardsley School District “levied more taxes than needed to fund operations,” according to an audit report released by the New York State Comptroller’s Office on July 3.
The report states that school officials overestimated the district’s appropriations and set aside too much money in fund balance and in reserves.
In response to those findings, Schools Superintendent Ryan Schoenfeld, who retired at the end of June, and then school board president Hrishi Karthikeyan sent a letter to the comptroller’s office, dated May 16, 2024, in defense of the district’s appropriations.
