Black history exhibit marks a step toward a museum

The Greenburgh Black History Museum Initiative is celebrating the contributions of former and current Black American residents of the town with an exhibit at the Greenburgh Public Library that aims to be the cornerstone of Westchester’s first permanent Black history museum.

The display, which is on view through March 15, features 22 panels detailing prominent African American figures who have lived or still live in Greenburgh, among them entrepreneur Madame C.J. Walker of Irvington, artist Alvin Hollingsworth of Hastings, and psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark of Hastings.
